ABSTRACT

Many helping professionals can indicate immediately which code of ethical conduct applies directly to them. This is especially true for people trained in fields such as social work, psychology, nursing, medicine, or education. For some of these occupations, licensing, certification, or membership in professional organizations requires the acceptance of specific ethical guidelines. Other professions, such as some counselors or clergy, residential treatment facility staff, or health care counselors, may turn to the ethical guidelines of their organization or institution.
