ABSTRACT

Counselors are often consulted about sexual problems which are largely, or in part, developmental in nature. These present themselves in three ways, even though they may be part of other issues:

The client is having trouble in the present accomplishing appropriate sexual development tasks, or has other stage-related concerns.

The client did not/could not accomplish earlier sexual development tasks and therefore is slower than expected in sexual development.

The client is dealing with a sexual issue out of sequence, because of a particular situation, either earlier or later than usual.
