ABSTRACT

REBT uses a system of problem identification, clarification, and resolution known as the ABCs. This system allows clients and therapists to target irrational beliefs and replace them with rational alternatives. This model is helpful because it gives the therapist and client a common frame of reference from which to work. It also can be visual, as most counselors like to diagram the ABCs on paper or a chalkboard. Adding this visual component is beneficial as it incorporates another modality to help in retrieval of the information.
