ABSTRACT

A variable is any characteristic of an individual, group, organization, or social phenomenon that changes. Income, age, weight, and gender are all examples of variables. Variables change from one person to another and even within the same person. My wife and I, for example, vary with respect to the variable ‘age’ in that I am nearly a year older than she is. Individually, I vary with respect to the variable ‘weight’ in that my weight fluctuates depending on how closely I adhere to my diet.
