ABSTRACT

The data-gathering aspect of the project presented in this chapter is less important than the thought which should be put into the preparation and design of the presentation. The children should recognise that the information and communication technology (ICT) presentation provides them with ‘headlines’ – a framework to guide and illustrate the live, spoken communication of their ideas. Time could be spent outside the ICT activities developing the children’s understanding of persuasive writing – how ideas need to be balanced with clear justification. For example, providing background information about previous filmic adaptations of Macbeth could help persuade the hypothetical audience that their decision to present the story as a power struggle between children in a school setting is worth their investment.
