ABSTRACT

The children will use digital stills cameras to record their dramatisation of a story as an animated photo-presentation. The children will either identify an issue relevant to their own lives or select a short story. When planning the story and setting up the scenes for the digital camera, readers should ensure that the children are considering the visual communication of information. In addition, to make the scenes look realistic the children should be encouraged to act them out. The skills required for plotting an effective story are reinforced by this project. Although it places little emphasis on descriptive writing, the project could be used to consolidate or introduce children to the conventions and structure of dialogue. For example, photo-dramas could be turned into illustrated books.
