ABSTRACT

The provisional nature of information and communication technology (ICT) that enables interaction with images to change their layout and appearance is key to the sorting activity in this project. The process of modelling with ICT, where children are able to try things out, make decisions and communicate their ideas, is a powerful tool to put in the hands of young learners. Pictures can either be positioned on the page in a start position ready for the children to move and then the Picture Bank window can be closed, or the children could be encouraged to choose an image from the Picture bank and drag it from there to the appropriate area of the diagram. Because both the images and the diagram are ‘draggable’ objects, there is a danger that the children may select parts of the diagram and move them by mistake.
