ABSTRACT

The activities that are presented in this chapter offer practical guidance and suggestions for both teachers and trainees. The relationship to the Foundation Stage areas of learning and National Curriculum Programmes of Study for Art & Design, Design & Technology, Music and information and communication technology (ICT) is described for each project. The projects do not provide an exhaustive or definitive list of ICT opportunities in the primary arts subjects. Instead, they are tried and tested sequences of activities, adaptable across the age-range, which ensure that high quality learning in ICT is accompanied by high quality learning in the arts. The projects which support units could be used alongside Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) units to reinforce or revisit aspects of learning. For children who need additional challenge it is possible to identify projects which extend the learning introduced in specific units of the QCA scheme of work.
