ABSTRACT

Schools and education providers may, owing to the nature of their establishment, geographical location or as a result of changing population, have needs over and above those normal for similar educational establishments elsewhere. Such circumstances are recognized and often funded through a variety of mechanisms (see 1.8). Sometimes special educational needs are of a more personal nature. Whilst the school may do everything in its power to access guidance and information on a special need, it will often require the help of parents or guardians in this. Furthermore, many of the activities mentioned in the latter part of this section will only provide financial help to individuals, not to the school.
