ABSTRACT
The prior chapters tell the current story about proverb cognition, but the story is incomplete. There are gaps in our understanding because the database is inadequate, and theorizing has not been detailed or comprehensive enough. Proverbs could also be used in a wider variety of situations. New studies, new theoretical approaches, and new applications are the themes of this chapter. Of course, new studies may require some new ideas, so the material in these two sections is somewhat interchangeable.
