ABSTRACT

We know him better than any other two people but it is still not easy to distill a life into a few pages. We want to tell his professional story, but our love and esteem bias our narration toward a more personal telling-the anecdote or reminiscence that hints at the man and makes us smile in remembrance of the event. We may not describe his career as others would do, but our account provides a sampler from our intertwined lives.
