ABSTRACT
The unique advantage of the MCMI over other self-report psychological inventories is that it provides an effective measure of personality structure. This chapter focuses on using the MCMI to assess affective disorders. However, the value of personality style assessment in diagnosing affective disorders will also be emphasized, since to do otherwise would be to overlook the greatest strength of the MCMI.
