ABSTRACT
Any scientific or engineering research requires evaluation to determine how well it meets its goals and contributes to its field, though each field has its own way of evaluating research. Partly because of the newness of artificial intelligence and the wide variety of research undertaken, no standards for evaluating AI research comparable to those for other sciences have been agreed upon (Cohen & Howe, 1988).
