The Transition from Laboratory to Field Research

From 1948, when I began my academic career, to the early 1970s, my forte in research had always been the laboratory experiment. Right after the war, the dominant outlook of psychology was that laboratory experimentation was the way to evaluate the quality of our thinking and make it scientific.
