ABSTRACT

If one thinks a bit about stress and coping, it becomes clear that these processes arouse diverse emotions, and there is a close relationship between stress and the emotions. Stress and emotional states both depend on appraisal and coping processes. Many different emotions can be aroused in stressful encounters depending on the special conditions of stress and how one copes with it. If one does not consider the emotions that are aroused, the stress-response state remains quite indeterminate with respect to its quality. So, if one studies the stress process, it is necessary to think of the emotions, too.
