ERICKSON'S USE OF ANECDOTES book
One of the hallmarks of Erickson's approach was his use of anecdotes as a teaching device and as a therapeutic tool. Erickson was known for his precise, focused communication which was geared to the individual patient. His use of anecdotes represented a most highly developed and effective use of verbal communication. In order to supply the reader. with a general framework that can be used to understand the transcript that follows, some uses of anecdotes are described. Additionally, my initial introduction to Erickson in 1978 is presented as an example of Erickson's use of anecdotes for powerful multiple-level therapeutic communication.
