At the same time George was going through Phases I and II of the treatment in the hospital his parents were being seen in casework treatment by the social worker. This treatment also consisted of three phases: the preparatory phase before the joint interviews, the joint interview phase (the parents being seen individually as well as in joint interviews), and the phase following the joint interviews.
