ABSTRACT

The marriage contract game is a board game described by Blechman and Rabin (1980). It is played by one couple with the therapist out of the room. This game is designed to help couples negotiate problems in an explicit, rational manner. It is a method of training couples in problem solving in such a way that it permits replication, studying, and dismantling of the treatment process. This game elicits successful, explicit negotiation of real relationship problems each time it is played.
