ABSTRACT
The family puppet interview provides many opportunities to observe the visible as well as the covert ways that family members communicate with each other. The puppet choices, the conflicts expressed in the fantasy, the postplay discussion when members are invited to associate to the story, the inquiry about the relationship of the story to the family’s functioning—all give important clues about the family and the available ego strength for confronting problems.
