It seems that at no other time in history have so many issues and potential stressors complicated our lives, both as individuals and as members of families. Sparse economic resources; fewer societal and governmental supports; increasingly complex human relationships with extended, blended, and single-parent families; greater demands and stresses in the workplace; skyrocketing costs of health care—these are just a few of the overwhelming issues that face the modern family.
