ABSTRACT

Sometimes I am amazed at the valiant efforts people make in the work of forgiveness associated with past family pain. People are so tied to their intergenerational families, wanting and seeking loving and trustworthy relationships, that they are often willing to make powerful commitments to see the relationships restored. They keep trying and believing that the process of forgiveness can make their family relationships better for themselves and for their children. This commitment and effort toward restoration are often made in the face of past or even present heinous actions that would seem insurmountable to many of us. Such is the power of the intergenerational family. People know that making things right with their intergenerational past will have a direct effect on the posterity of the entire family.
