ABSTRACT
The logical approach to meaning is a first step into the investigation ofmeaning relations. Taking up the notions of truth and reference from Chapter 2, we will consider sentences from the perspective of their truth conditions. The logical view allows the introduction of basic concepts such as logical consequence (or entailment), logical equivalence and incompatibility. In the second part of the chapter these notions are applied to words.
