ABSTRACT
These quotations indicate the basic thrust of this paper, which is in the nature of a prolegomenon or introduction to the hermeneutic aspects of psychoanalysis. The theory of meaning underlying communication systems within psychoanalysis as applied to psychotherapy has long been an interest of mine.
