ABSTRACT

For the sake of the reader who is eager to see the clinical data, the pre-sentation of theoretical ideas on change will temporarily be postponed; they will be taken up again in Chapters 9 and 10. First, however, in the following four chapters I present analysts' descriptions of work with patients that they believe stimulated or facilitated a psychological shift for them. The material is organized in relation to the triggers for recognition of a personal issue, but the focus now turns to exploring the analyst's manner of working on what has been stimulated and his or her assessment of the consequences in terms of personal transformation.
