ABSTRACT
Much of this book deals with how analysts acquire and maintain a focus on process. Before discussing the systems approach to personality as it relates to clinical psychoanalysis, I must open for consideration a basic assumption: the nature of consciousness as a process and its relationship to the idea of unconscious mental functioning.
