ABSTRACT
The availability of legalized gambling has increased dramatically over the last 20 years. This has included the proliferation of casinos, the spread of lotteries and the emergence of Internet gambling. Along with this growth of gambling, there has been an increased amount of attention to the diagnosis, management, and prevention of pathological gambling. Pathological gambling has only recently been recognized in the research, clinical, and public health arenas as a serious medical disorder (Shaffer and Korn, 2002).
