ABSTRACT
A relatively recent innovation in the study of speech perception has been the attempt to employ the methodology and theory of modern cognitive psychology. Although this information-processing view has not been without its critics, it has, nevertheless, extended the experimental approach to the study of speech as well as the theoretical conception of the perceptual process.
