mío, mía, míos, mías unos libros míos (some books of mine)

tuyo, tuya, tuyos, tuyas la pluma tuya (your pen)

suyo, suya, suyos, suyas el coche suyo (his/her/your car)

nuestro, nuestra, nuestros, nuestras las cosas nuestras (our things)

vuestro, vuestra, vuestros, vuestras un amigo vuestro (a friend of yours)

suyo, suya, suyos, suyas una hija suya (one of their/your daughters)

To emphasise who the owner is Este libro mío no lo cojáis. (Don’t take this book of mine.)

To emphasise the fact that the thing possessed is one of a group

Es un amigo mío. (He is a friend of mine, i.e. I have several friends, and he is one of them.)

When the noun is preceded by algún, ningún, cualquier, cada, mucho, poco, varios, más, menos

Cualquier idea suya suele ser interesante. (Any idea of his is usually interesting.) He conocido a muchos amigos suyos. (I have met many of his friends.)

Before nada and algo
