ABSTRACT

In view of this and the fact that the forms and frequency of the suffixes differ widely from place, and also in some regions seem tobe more common in women's speech than men's, the following account is very condensed. Except where indicated, the remarks in this chapter apply to educated usage in central Spain, but they should be checked against the speech habits of different Latin-American republics. Fora detailed picture of usage in Spain see Gooch (1974), from which some of the following examples are taken.
