ABSTRACT

The reason for choosing these texts to compare is that they both deal with closely related topics (back or shoulder pain) but in very different ways. Some of the differences are obvious (e.g. the fact that the conversation is produced by two interactants, whereas the textbook has only one producer) but that does not make them less interesting to explore, in order to see both exactly how these differences are realized in the wordings and how they reflect the cultural and ideological expectations of the producers and their audience.
