ABSTRACT
During our first year or so in Fresno, then a town of about fifty thousand people, we moved several times, trying to find the right fit for us. We went from one small house or duplex to another, usually one-bedroom places, sometimes with a pull-down bed or two in the living or dining rooms, which during the day we lifted up to be part of the wall.
