ABSTRACT
As of March 1999 minority group members constituted 16.9 percent of all active-duty officers and 36.4 percent of all active-duty enlisted personnel. The representation of females was essentially identical in the officer corps (13.8 percent) and in the enlisted ranks (14.0 percent). The representation of minorities and women varies significantly across the various groups and services, as indicated in the table below.
