ABSTRACT
JUNE and I had been planning this trip to New York for a long time, for it was difficult to get reservations during the war. I was out on Long Island when the news came of Hiroshima. I wired June, still in Chicago, not to come to Long Island. Instead, we were to meet in front of the Algonquin Hotel, for dinner and the theater later.
