One commonly associates the word reaction with the word romanticism. Arnold Ruge once said, “I call those writers Romantics who use the means of our education to oppose the age of enlightenment and revolution, those who reject and combat the principle of self-contented and self-contained humanity in the field of science, of art, and of ethics.” 1
