ABSTRACT

Now the stage is set for the guests to meet the host and the other guests. Trepidation often seizes them when they are faced with the task of playing their ideal selves in front of strangers. This is particularly the case of those who have not formed any ideal image of themselves. For them, modern social gatherings take on an awesome aspect. They enter their hosts' living room gripped by stage fright, asking themselves why the devil they came. They would prefer to be cooking at their stoves, dictating letters to their secretaries, or supervising the shoe department.
