ABSTRACT

It would be nearly impossible to compile a complete list of Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) research centers that deal with the arts and culture in one way or another, but in addition to Centre de Recherche sur le Politique, l'Administration, la Ville et le Territoire (CERAT), the Centre de Sociologie du Travail et des Arts, and the Laboratoire d'Economie Sociale (MATISSE), there are at least three others. They are Centre de Recherche en Gestion, Ecole Polytechnique, Centre de Sociologie de l 'Education et de la Culture, Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, and Sociologie, Histoire, Anthropologie des Dynamiques Culturelles, Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Marseille). While the publications of the CNRS research system likely find their natural audience among academics and other social scientists, there is also considerable evidence that the research of these centers is taken into account in policymaking.
