ABSTRACT
Snow and mountains are not essential for the economic health of certain well-known electronic companies, but New Hampshire and Colorado are undoubtedly grateful for their physiographic and climatological inheritance. Similarly, large universities in pleasant surroundings are the locational loadstones for many research and development consultants. It is not difficult to think of numerous examples where the maps that are carried in men's heads might be relevant in quite crucial ways.
