ABSTRACT
April 23 was a high point—a most honorable moment—for a nation emerging from decades of strife. This was the day that these words rang through the National Assembly of Turkey: “The sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation.” And the April 23 Children’s Holiday is the legacy passed on to the children who represent the present and the future. It was perhaps the day that the Turkish Republic looked forward to the most.
