ABSTRACT
The aims of this study have been to describe and to analyze the occupational perspectives and career lines of commercial free-lance musicians. This concluding section examines the findings in a broader context. It returns to the themes which began the study: work problems and the structure of occupational perspectives, and a related critique of mass society, in particular a critique of artists who work in popular-culture occupations and industries.
