What has been said here so tersely is obviously not the last word about the importance of sex-even in this chapter. I t is interesting to recall what a reviewer o f the Three Contributions said December 21 , 1905, i n Die Fackel, edited by Karl Kraus: "No last word, but on countless problems the first sober, valuable word ." The whole review, wri t ten by Otto Soyka, was immensely appreciative and, I think, basically right i n perceiving that Freud was opening up a new subject and striking a new, l iberating tone.
