ABSTRACT

Jung. Far from claiming that one or another th ing is only a mask or mere appearance whi le something else shows us the reality, I have sought to discover the m i n d of each wri ter in his work and not behind it . Nor have I followed the example of those who find the real Heidegger in , say, Being and Time wh i le dismissing his 1934 book or his later writ ings as irrelevant. I n no case have I concentrated on a single work or period to the exclusion o f the rest; i t has always been my aim to show how the whole oeuvre hangs together and how the man and his work are of one piece.
