ABSTRACT
The Reverend Calvin Butts of the Abyssinian Baptist Church had some tough words about Columbia University and its plans to expand into Harlem when he appeared recently on “Inside City Hall.” In an interview with NY1 political anchor Dominic Carter, Butts said that it has been “a good long time” since he has spoken with Columbia President Lee Bollinger about the Ivy League school’s expansion plans. “Columbia is sowing the seeds for another huge eruption in Harlem,” Butts said. “It’s an absolute fiasco. It’s an explosion waiting to happen.”
