ABSTRACT

The treatment of the psychopath is a subject that has received all too little attention in the literature, considering the wide social damage inflicted by this disorder. A major problem with psychopaths in office treatment is that of fees. Robert Lindner in his book Rebel without a Cause and Lewis Wolberg in a personal conversation, as well as others who have dealt with psychopaths, have pointed out that hypnoanalysis is useful in treatment. Rebel without a Cause is a study of the treatment of the psychopath with hypnoanalysis. The psychopath's aberrant behaviour consists of acting destructively toward others around him and toward society in general. David Henderson described three basic types of psychopath: the predominantly aggressive, the predominantly passive or inadequate, and the predominantly creative. Psychopaths are frequently involved in manipulations. The ones in therapy are usually inadequate manipulators. The establishment of the ability to control leads to more than a controlled psychopath.
