Evolutionary History of the “Robust" Australopithecines: A Summary and Historical Perspective

This volume was compiled in order to provide a vehicle for the presentation of recent research pertaining to the Plio-Pleistocene hominids commonly referred to as “ robust” australopithecines. While these creatures are fascinating in their own right, they also provide for an enhanced appreciation of the questions associated with the evolution of our own lineage. The “ robust” australopithecines were, after all, probably our closest cousins.
