ABSTRACT
At the beginning of The Idiot, Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin is on the train heading toward St Petersburg. After spending several years in a sanatorium in Switzerland, the prince returns to his native land where he has no relatives or friends. In his crowded third-class car, the prince befriends Rogozhin and Lebedev and learns of Rogozhin’s passion for the beautiful Nastassya Filippovna. That very same day, the prince will find himself thrown into a whirlwind of fascinating events which will change forever the destiny of Rogozhin and Nastassya Filippovna, as well as his own life. After the murder of Nastassya Filippovna, Rogozhin will be sent to Siberia to serve his sentence, and the prince will be headed back to the Swiss sanatorium.
