ABSTRACT
A nyone who has read this book as an argument in favor of medical authority is right. In this last chapter I want to show what doctors and patients are giving up in abandoning that authority. An increasing problem in postmodern medicine is the doctor’s growing helplessness in the face of disease that arises not from organic causes but from the mind.
