ABSTRACT

A11 of the aspects of a new dialogical planning approach that we have outlined thus far—the communicative, critical, liberal, and pragmatic— point in the direction of planning theory and practice that is incremental. Our focus here is a reconstruction and defense of incrementalism as one important aspect of a dialogical planning approach. While we begin with a brief discussion of Lindblom’s original disjointed incrementalism, our intent is not to give a complete explication or defense of his thought, fascinating though that would be. 1
