ABSTRACT

Demographic projections are typically sought because of their utility in making decisions in economic, social, and even political spheres. Strictly demographic projections must be prepared in order to lead to data directly usable by those responsible for economic and social action. The global manner of making the forecast of the total school populations may not suffice for those directly responsible for education in a country. The projections of the Labor Force rest on the application of the rates of labor force participation to the projections of populations by age or age groups. The use of projections by age always rests on a more or less refined weighting of the totals of different classes.
