ABSTRACT
The editorial reflects Deng's hardline policy in dealing with critics of the party, and student movements in particular. It tries to intimidate them into submission, threatening the demonstrators with severe political consequences. It also attempts to sow division within the movement by making students wary of "a small number of people," who it alleges "are taking advantage" of them.
