ABSTRACT
The differences between men and women in their religious behaviour and beliefs are considerable. Furthermore, since many social surveys report the results for the two sexes separately, there is a lot of evidence available. This is therefore one of the most important of the statistical comparisons to be made in this book. We shall first consider the extent of the difference, using various criteria for religious activity, and go on to compare different denominations for the proportions of male and female members.
